Little Felted Coin Purse

I want to track my felted coin purse project seperately, so i didnt write much about it on my previous post.

LITTLE FELTED COIN PURSE

History: I want to do some felting after seeing so many projects over the net, so when i received my first wool i looked out for a small project so that i can try felting and also have a idea how much the project shrinks.

Yarn: Merino – Handspun with Multicolored roving (Pink Family) – Bulk weight (i think so) – RAK1
RAK1 - Pink Merino - Wound2
Needles: 6mm circular from RAK1

Pattern:
Its my own pattern, inspired from here.

Felt Pouch1 - Blocked2
Notes:
Finished Knitting and Blocking. Waiting to be felted.
Pre Felt measurements:
Width – 3” at top, 4” at bottom
Height – 3.5” (with flap closed)
Flap – length 1.5”; width 2.25”

I will add details here as i felt it and finish it. So keep looking for my first felting experiences.

5th June
I visited my Parents place during the weekend and tagged along the wool purse.
I hand felted it using a dish full of hot water and another one with chilled water. I used normal bath soap (i didn’t use detergent used for clothes as i thought it will be too harsh on my hands). After 15 mins… it turned out as i needed, I stuffed in some plastic bags and dried it out. I even picked up a button for the flap.
But i forgot take it along with me to chennai when i am returning….waaaaah :-(
I have some photos that took using the camera in the mobile (they are bit fuzzy i know). will upload them soon

Chennai Weekend: What am i doing with my goodies?

You might be wondering that i have been receiving goodies and what am going with that. So to keep you posted is this post :-)

From Mini Purse Swap
I am planning to use the organic yarn for a baby set.
i dont want to use the debbie bliss silk, coz i dont want to cut it… just want to feel it and pet it ( actually i want to do something too special, but i am not sure what???)
The stitch markers are used extensively and the tiny foldable scissors has a permanent place in my bag.
The 5mm circular is holding my current project.

From RAK1
The handspun Mohair in pink is just off the needles. I made a small coin purse for a felted project. The inspiration is from here. I didnt follow the pattern in there as i still didnt learn working with DPNs.
The Shetland wool in green is on needles for a scarf – Juno regina stole. The pattern can be found here. Its a lovely pattern and i am waiting for it to be finished. Visit my Ravelry page to check the progress.
This is my first lace project and i am not sure if the ball will be enough for the entire scarf ( there is no yardage on the ball).
My experiences with lace
1. Dont make a mistake, its very difficult to frog rows.
2. Football and lace knitting are not a good combination.
I will restrict this project to weekends, thats when i could concentrate for atleast an hour continously.

From Pony
The 3mm circulars are used to make “Little beaded bag”. Its a surprise gift to a friend. The details are on my Ravelry page. I will post the details here after she receives it. All i want to say is “it came out beautifully”.

From RAK2
The Patons wool in Aran and chestnut will be used in my next felted project. I just casted on for “Damask” bag by Berocco. The pattern calls for 2 100gms hanks for the main color, which i dont have so i had to customize the pattern a bit. Lets see how it will turn out.
The Patons Grace cotton yarn will be used to make my first booties. My vote is for the booties pattern on this site.

RAK2 – Some More Wool

I received another RAK on 19th June, this time from Sue. This Monster Box was waiting on the table by the time am back from office. I think the local post office will keep an eye on me as i am receiving international packages frequently (either swap or RAK). I am surprised that the package reached me so soon from US, a week???.
RAK2 - Sue
Inside are tonnes of wool, some cotton, a handmade beaded bracelet ( i loved this one on first sight), a jewellery plier and some crochet comforters. Thanks a lot Sue
RAK2 - Sue - Goodies
I read reviews about patons wool, I am happy that it felts nicely ( i am dying to do some felting stuff). I got 4 skiens in Aran, black, chestnut brown and blue denim. There are 2 skiens of knitpicks peruvian wool in red (this one also felts nicely). 4 skiens of patons grace cotton yarn, 2 crochet comforters by Susan Bates, they already found their place. Sue also included a Jewellery plier for me, i can now continue on my jewellery stuff or may be some stitch markers. A lovely beaded crochet bracelet made by her.
Here is a close-up shot of the Bracelet.

My Pony Loot

Its been sometime that i blogged but lot of things happened in between. With the mounting work at office, i prefer to spend the itsy bitsy time i get at home (after the house-hold stuff) for some knitting / crochet / other crafts instead of sitting with the machine :-) I received my “Pony Loot” on 16th of June and here is the short story.
Pony Order Swapna
Mrsfife visited ooty and returned with a great news. She visited the Pony factory there  and organised a mail order for our group (on ravelry).
I got some crochet hooks, sizes that i couldnt find in shops here in chennai.
Some Bamboo needles, coz i really want to see how they look and feel.
I got some circulars below 3.5 mm in the longest size they have.
After i received my package, i saw that there are some DPNs which i didnt order. I checked with my organiser and am happy that i can keep them ( ofcourse paying xtra).
Here is my stuff, forgot to take a snap before removing the wrappers.
Pony Loot
Now i have to make a needle organiser to keep all my needles.
I am thinking of a pringles chips tube for by bamboos and making a fabric organiser for my rest of the needles. I know it takes a long time for me to finish the “Needle case” project. The first step is visiting “Cotton street” in Egmore for some peppy cotton fabric.

RAK – Wool Yarn for me

June 11
Am very tired when i was back from office and badly wanted to catch a short nap before making dinner.
My MIL told me that there was a package for me from scotland. I know from whom it was and i guessed what it might have. All my tiredness is gone as i opened the package and petted each and everything inside.
Jeni has been very nice and even included 2 merino hanks handspun by her.
Here is what i got
2 Hanks of Merino handspun yarn
4 balls of lace weight pure wool yarn in pastels (creame, pink, green and blue)
1 4mm circular needles by Addi
1 6mm circular needle.
RAK1 Needles
Handspun merino pink
Handspun merino blue
Creame
I loved the merino as its soft. This is the first time i am seeing real wool yarn ( ok.. ok… apart from the heavy rugs and shawls at home) I showed them to the whole family.I am planning to make a felted spectacle case for my cousin with the yarn. This will be my first felted project and i cannot wait to start.

As usual my DH is in awe. He also loved the merino yarn. I want to make something for him (A small project) but i couldn’t think of anything… any ideas????
